Since its beginning in 2003, Movember has raised over £500 million to fund more than 1,250 projects worldwide. This support gives men a fighting chance, providing resources and research that wouldn’t exist otherwise.

Movember started with a simple idea between two friends in a Melbourne pub: bring back the moustache as a statement, and raise funds to fight prostate cancer. Travis Garone and Luke Slattery never imagined that their small group of 30 friends in 2003 would grow into millions of Mo Bros and Mo Sisters across the world.
In 2004, they raised over AUD 40,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, igniting a spark that would eventually turn into a global movement. In the UK, Movember began gaining traction in 2007, growing into a force that has raised millions to transform men’s health here at home and around the world.

Movember’s first official fundraising year brought in AUD 54,000 with just 450 participants. This was the start of something remarkable.
In just one year, Movember grew to 9,315 Mo Bros, raising AUD 1.2 million for men’s health research—a testament to the power of community.
Movember’s message reached new shores, expanding its reach to the UK, USA, Canada, and Spain. This year saw 134,171 participants raising an incredible AUD 21.5 million for men’s health.
Movember’s early support funded crucial breakthroughs, including identifying over 25 types of prostate cancer and completing the world’s first prostate cancer genome mapping project. These efforts laid the foundation for groundbreaking treatments that are changing lives today.
