What do you need help with today? Choose
Select the option that best matches your situation. Each section explains what this type of follow-up is for and what usually happens next.
This follow-up is for checking your recovery after a recent operation or procedure.
We will:
- Review wound healing, bruising and swelling.
- Confirm or adjust your post-operative plan (for example catheter removal, dressing or drain care).
- Check pain control and how you are managing day to day.
- Talk through recovery milestones and what is normal at each stage.
Best next step: Book a post-operative follow-up (Video or In-Clinic, depending on what was agreed with you).
This is specifically to go through results of recent investigations such as:
- Blood, urine, semen or genetic tests.
- Imaging scans (ultrasound, CT, MRI and others).
I will explain what the findings mean in the context of your symptoms and history. Together, we will decide the next steps — this may be further tests, starting or changing treatment, or monitoring with reassurance.
Best next step: Book a results review appointment (often virtual is suitable).
If you are stable on a long-term treatment and no immediate changes are expected, you can usually request a repeat without a full consultation.
For repeat prescriptions, we will:
- Ask you to complete a short safety questionnaire.
- Check for new medical issues, side-effects or interactions.
- Issue an e-prescription to your nominated pharmacy once approved.
Pharmacies usually notify you by text when medication is ready to collect.
Best next step: Use the repeat prescription request form in the portal.
Important:
If you have
new side-effects
or new concerns, book a review instead of using the standard repeat request.
Choose this if you are already following a treatment plan and:
- You are not seeing the expected benefit.
- You think your dose may need to be increased or reduced.
- You are considering changing to a different medication or treatment approach.
In this type of review we will:
- Assess how well your current plan is working.
- Discuss realistic goals and timelines.
- Consider dose changes, alternative drugs, or adding other therapies (for example physiotherapy, psychosexual support or lifestyle measures).
- If useful, start to talk about non-surgical vs surgical options.
Best next step: Book a treatment review consultation (Video or In-Clinic, depending on complexity).
Some urological and andrological conditions need regular review to stay safely on track. This may include:
- Monitoring PSA trends and prostate health.
- Tracking urinary symptoms scores (for example IPSS) for LUTS.
- Assessing penile curvature, pain or function for Peyronie’s disease (including photo review when appropriate).
- Reviewing progress of fertility pathways or chronic pelvic / testicular pain.
- Checking that long-term medications remain safe and effective for you.
Frequency depends on your diagnosis and situation. We will agree a schedule that fits your needs.
Best next step: Book an ongoing monitoring follow-up as previously recommended.
New or troublesome side-effects can be worrying and disruptive. It is important not to ignore them.
In this review we will:
- Clarify which symptoms may be related to medication or therapy.
- Check for any warning signs that need urgent attention.
- Discuss how to manage side-effects, including dose adjustments or switching treatment.
- Plan how to balance effectiveness with quality of life.
Many of these reviews can safely start as a virtual appointment to provide rapid advice.
Best next step: Book a side-effects review (Video is often fastest).
If symptoms are severe
or suggest an allergic reaction, follow the
immediately.
This is for when recovery does not feel routine. For example:
- Significant or worsening pain that is not controlled with the agreed plan.
- New or unexpected swelling or bruising.
- New urinary problems (difficulty passing urine, leakage, burning).
- Changes in erection beyond what was explained as expected during recovery.
- Significant anxiety about whether something has gone wrong.
In these situations we may need to see you quickly, often in person, to examine you properly and decide what to do next.
Best next step: Contact my team for urgent advice or book the earliest available post-operative problem review.
For any severe or life-threatening symptoms, follow the
instructions.
Some symptoms may indicate a serious problem and cannot safely wait for a routine appointment.
Next step: Use the triage guide below.
Is it urgent? How to decide Triage
Key point:
If you are ever unsure, it is safer to treat symptoms as urgent.
RED FLAG – Call 999 or go to A&E immediately Emergency
These symptoms may be life-threatening and need emergency assessment now:
- Sudden, severe breathing difficulty or signs of anaphylaxis (for example swelling of lips or tongue, wheeze, collapse).
- Sudden crushing chest pain.
- Heavy bleeding from the urinary tract, soaking dressings quickly or passing large clots.
- Signs of a possible stroke (FACE, ARM, SPEECH, TIME).
- Sudden loss of consciousness.
Action: Call 999 or go straight to A&E. Do not wait for a routine appointment or an email reply.
Same-day advice – contact my team urgently or your GP Today
These symptoms are usually not immediately life-threatening, but need medical assessment today:
- Fever (temperature ≥ 38 °C), especially after recent surgery or with painful urination.
- New severe pain or swelling in the testes, penis or surgical site not controlled with your prescribed pain relief.
- Sudden inability to pass urine when your bladder feels full (acute urinary retention).
- Signs of spreading infection around a wound (increasing redness, heat, pus) or a persistent lesion on the penis or testes that is bleeding or growing.
- Significant, unexpected pain during an erection.
Action (working hours): Contact my team urgently.
Action (out of hours): Contact your GP, NHS 111, or attend Urgent Care / A&E if advised.
Safe to self-manage / book routine Routine
These issues are usually suitable for self-care, a routine follow-up, or a repeat prescription request:
- Mild nausea, flushing or dizziness from medication that is tolerable and not worsening.
- Minor bruising or swelling around a recent surgical site that matches what you were told to expect.
- Running low on regular, long-term medication (but not at immediate risk of missing critical doses).
- Needing a routine check-up or repeat investigation to monitor a stable condition.
- Reviewing test results that have already been received and flagged as non-urgent.
Action: Use the quick links below to book a routine follow-up or request a repeat prescription.
Quick triage helper (not a diagnosis)
Pick what best matches what’s happening. If in doubt, err on the side of urgent.
Which situation is closest?
Select…
Life-threatening symptoms (breathing trouble, collapse, heavy bleeding, chest pain, stroke signs)
Needs same-day advice (fever ≥ 38°C after surgery, severe pain/swelling, can't pass urine)
Likely routine (mild stable side-effects, expected bruising/swelling, results review)
Quick links: self-service options Fast
For common tasks like booking follow-ups or requesting repeats, the secure patient portal is usually the fastest route.
Use your Carebit patient portal to arrange your next consultation:
Log in to your Carebit portal. Go to Appointments, Select Follow-Up
and choose Video (Virtual) or In-Clinic
Choose an available time slot (typically released up to six weeks in advance).
For ongoing, stable medications where you have had a review within the last year:
Complete a brief safety questionnaire online (about 30 seconds).
I will review your answers, usually on the same or next working day.
If safe to continue, an e-prescription will be sent directly to you.
You will be able to pick up the prescription in any pharmacy.
Note:
If you are running low and have new or worrying side-effects, book a review rather than using the standard repeat request.
Many follow-ups can be done safely and efficiently by video or phone (especially for results, treatment adjustments or side-effects):
Choose Video / Virtual when booking in Carebit.
Upload any relevant documents or photos securely before your appointment if requested.
Make sure you are in a quiet, private space for the consultation.
